Looking to Christ Together

Looking to Christ Together

One of the great joys of belonging to Christ’s Church is walking alongside fellow believers. In a world that prizes self-reliance, God has graciously given us a community to remind us of our need for Christ. Through prayers, conversations, and shared burdens, our faith is strengthened. How often the Lord uses a brother or sister to redirect our eyes back to Him! I am deeply thankful for each person God has placed in my life at Christ Church and beyond.

As we study Peter’s ministry this week, I am struck by his words in Acts 9:34: “Jesus Christ has healed you! Get up and make your bed.” Peter refuses to take credit, keeping his focus entirely on Christ. It makes me wonder: if I were in Peter’s shoes, would my flesh tempt me to take the credit? Would I maintain that same radical humility in words and actions?

One of the great comforts of this passage is the reminder that Jesus is doing a deeper work in His people. He is both the source of our salvation and the One who sanctifies us. In trials and uncertainties, He gently exposes our self-sufficiency and draws us into a deeper dependence upon His grace.

Above all, this reminds us that Christ gently accomplishes His work through His people. The believers in Lydda and Joppa walked through everything together - sharing their joys, carrying their griefs, and witnessing God’s power as one family. We were never meant to walk this journey alone. In His deep kindness, God has given us each other so that whenever our faith grows weary, we can find comfort and strength in the quiet prayers and loving witness of our church community. Thank you, Christ Church, for walking with me and I pray I will be able to keep my eyes on Him and walk with you.
