Fellowship & Proclamation

Fellowship & Proclamation

A few years ago I sat across the table from Kuni Hotta just a few days before he was to head to Japan to serve as a missionary with Christ Bible Institute in Nagoya. We talked about his time as a pastoral intern at Christ Church, about the things he was eager to experience back in Japan, about his concerns in this new endeavor, and about how we might stay connected. That lead us to discuss the idea of a small team from Christ Church going to Japan to learn first hand what he was doing, to get a small glimpse into his life as a missionary, and to be an encouragement to him and his coworkers. Then, upon returning, be able to share those things with the people of Christ Church, not just in a one time presentation, but as we interact with folks during the course of life together as a church, with the deep desire that Christ Church would be better acquainted with, and if possible, stronger connected with the ministry that Kuni is part of in Japan. I think we could call that a way to be in fellowship with Kuni.

Well, here we are a few years later and that idea is coming to fruition. From October 29 - Nov. 7, the team of Greg & Ginnie, Jim & Kimberly  and I will travel to Nagoya to do just that. We will be walking alongside Kuni as he does ministry, learning more about his ministry, and witnessing the way that God is using His people to proclaim His WORD (John 1) with the people of Japan.

As we, the church, journey on Sundays through 1 John it seems fitting to me that we are discovering how fellowship with God and others leads us to two things we pray happen as a result of this trip: that our (Kuni, the team, Christ Church, CBI) joy may be complete, and a proclamation of the good news that the Light has come into the world will go forth. What a blessing that our heavenly Father, in Christ and by His Spirit, allows us to partake in that fellowship and that proclamation. The team would be grateful for your prayers and support.
