Stories Worth Sharing

We wandered the beach, trying to find people with whom to talk. A bit nervous, we started to wonder if we’d ever find the “right group”, much less get into a profound conversation. But, just then, as hopes were lowest, we found the bunch of rowdy UK guys we had played volleyball with earlier in the day. Saying ‘hey’ was easy, but asking about their spiritual background, thoughts on Jesus, and beliefs in heaven and hell was a little tougher. God is good, though, and we eventually heard from all ten of those young lads, shared the gospel with them, and even prayed with them.

That CAM (College Age Ministry) beach evangelism day at Grand Haven was one of the year’s highlights for me. Our group got to know each other much better, we had a lot of fun at the beach playing volleyball and getting Fricano’s pizza, and we got to intentionally share the good news of Jesus’ saving grace with many lost souls. What an incredible gift from the Lord that he uses us in a variety of ways to further his kingdom!

This school year, CAM’s focus is “stories”. We want to hear others’ stories, share our own, and convey God’s great story. This framework emphasizes the importance of asking good questions, sharing our testimonies, and relaying the good news of the gospel. As C.S. Lewis wrote, human stories and miracles are retellings of God’s grand narrative, the ultimate story worth sharing.

Please pray that college age folks would take advantage of this resource, that they would invite their friends and make it their own. Also, as they grow closer to the Lord and each other, that they would cherish their church family and find loving ways to serve now and in their futures.
