Looking Ahead to the Next Year

Published December 19, 2025

It’s an exciting time around here as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas. As we come to the close of the year, I hope that many of you have enjoyed going through the Bible together through our Everyday Gospel devotional.

For 2026, we wanted to equip you with a different kind of resource for our annual devotional. We have chosen the Daily Liturgy Devotional: 40 Days of Worship and Prayer by Douglas Sean O’Donnell. It’s organized into 8 different themes (the gospel, faith, love, hope, wisdom, holiness, perseverance, and witness), each containing 5 daily entries. In each entry, you’ll find different pre-written prayers and prayer prompts (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication), Scripture readings, and songs, drawing on the wealth of church history and encouraging you to make it your own. You may want to break out a hymnal or look up the songs on Spotify or Apple Music to sing along!

It can be used on your own in your daily devotional time or together with friends or in family worship. Some people may want to incorporate it as part of their daily rhythm, while others may just want to use it once a week on Saturday or Sunday. So we’ve created a few different plans for using it that incorporate chances to rest or catch up on any missed days. You can view those here or pick up a copy at the book table by the main office:

5 Days/Week Plan (it repeats 6 times through the year, so jump in at any point)

Once/Week Plan - Saturdays (perfect for preparing for corporate worship)

Once/Week Plan - Sundays (perfect for digging deeper on the Lord’s Day)

Since our devotional books the last 2 years have taken us through the whole Bible and this one doesn’t, we also wanted to offer suggestions for anyone looking for a Bible reading plan. The Navigators have put together some really helpful resources that you can view below or pick up at the book table by the main office:

This plan takes you through the whole New Testament in 5 minutes/day and is perfect for anyone getting into the habit of daily Bible reading

This plan takes you through the whole Bible with 2 readings per day

This plan takes you through the whole Bible with 4 readings per day (2 OT & 2 NT)

Our prayer is that this will bind us together more and more as a praying community, a Word-centered community, and a community that worships together on Sundays, in our homes throughout the week, and in each moment of our daily lives! Pick up your copy of the Daily Liturgy Devotional (one per family) on the table by the office starting this Sunday as our gift to you!
